These are some examples of illustrations for several e-learning courses produced by Alive E-Learning for AVIS Europe.
The courses were aimed at new employees, explaining the procedure of hiring out cars, ensuring that customers understood safety and price information, how to deal with difficult customers and how to keep the front desk running efficiently.
The course was produced in Flash using rich content such as photos, video, animation, interactive cartoons and an animated narrator to introduce and explain the subjects.
AVIS Europe has very strong branding, so their brand colours were used throughout the illustrations. After some thought and discussion we decided that a loose sketchy cartoon style would humanize the subject, and it worked well set against the weighty text and sharp lines of the template design. Despite the humorous nature of the cartoons, it was important that the uniforms, desk area and equipment was depicted accurately, so the new employees would recognise them. Also we had to strike a balance between funny depictions of difficult customers whilst reinforcing respect for the customer’s needs.
This was a very long project where we created a huge amount of content whilst keeping to very tight deadlines, yet hopefully the sense of fun in their creation comes across, because it was very entertaining to produce.
