Xebec McGraw-Hill was one of the first companies to deliver it’s courseware online and through secure intranets.
The clients they worked with include:
- Lloyds TSB
- Co-operative Insurance
- UIFI Learndirect
- The Cabinet Office
- SITO Security
- The Parking Service
- The DTLR
- BMW
The subjects were often detailed and lengthy, and the cartoon style was chosen to be uplifting and entertaining, the brief included inventing humorous and occasionally irreverent interpretations of the topic on each page.
Because of the limits to internet access of the time, there was a strict limit on file sizes for all graphics, most of them coming under 15kb. This forced us to be inventive to find ways to make rich content that could load quickly.
Xebec was a very large and busy e-learning company, managing the production of several large and complicated courseware projects simultaneously with a fast turn over, and this was a great opportunity to see first-hand how to manage
large commercial instructional design projects.
