Simple Web commissioned us to create the graphics for the Death by Orgasm game produced for the adult company Love Honey, to be distributed as viral advertising for their new Silver Bullet product range via Facebook and Twitter accounts.
The products had a horror theme and featured traditional monsters such as Dracula, the Wolf man and the Mummy, so the game was timed to be released on Halloween.
The object of the game was for the player to save 5 of their friends from being destroyed by playing rock-paper-scissors against the monsters.
The friends were taken from the player’s Facebook friends list and represented by their avatars which were dynamically loaded into the game. When the player won or lost their friends were notified and challenged to play and beat their friend’s score.
It was a very simple game, but it had the quality of dark humour in its grotesque death sequences that appealed to its target audience. We had a lot of fun creating our own sound effects to add to the scary and funny mood of the game.
A lot of energy and thought went into the visual style of the game site and after much discussion we chose a theme based on 60s horror cartoons, with a fruit machine style gameplay.
When the player won or lost a round they would be presented with a cartoon strip presentation of the destruction of the monster or friend.
